Poe published this under a pseudonym and it's one of his rarest works. In it he describes the philosophy of mesmerism, hypnosis, and "animal magnetism" which he was using on the ladies. This is a real oddity in the field of psychic influence, but it's surprisingly valid and interesting material for students of PSI, hypnosis, and spooky action at a distance.
